As most people know, Pope Francis commissioned some one thousand “missionaries of mercy” at the start of the current Holy Year and granted them special faculties to forgive even those sins reserved to the Holy See.

Caritas welcomes Prime Minister’s call for Royal Commission into juvenile detention
Caritas Australia has welcomed Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s announcement this morning of a Royal Commission, to investigate the evidence presented in this week’s Four Corners program about juvenile detention in the Northern Territory.

More than $208,000 raised for Project Compassion: Learning more, creating change
In 2016, more than $11 million was raised nationally for Caritas Project Compassion, with more than $208,000 contributed by the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.
