Celebrating Bishop Bill Wright's seventh anniversary as Bishop of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle

As Bishop Bill has written, it was a cold and stormy night in June 2011 when he was ordained eighth Bishop of Maitland-Newcastle.

He has encountered many storms of the metaphoric kind and no doubt there will be more, but in the meantime he has come to know, and be known by, our diocesan community. While the restoration of St John’s Chapel at Maitland – in his own backyard, as it were ‒ is perhaps his most visible achievement, he continues to work to bring his vision for Maitland-Newcastle to reality and to move forward in a post-Royal Commission, pre-Plenary Council Australian church.
