CatholicCare’s offering services in Upper Hunter

CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning is set to host its first Singleton Out of Home Care (foster care) Information Session tomorrow evening.

The purpose is to inform and inspire members of the local community who are interested in becoming foster carers.

“Making the decision to become a foster carer can be life-changing, in more ways than one,” Acting Director of CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning, Gary Christensen, said.

“CatholicCare staff and Advisory Board members are thrilled that interest from locals in becoming foster carers is so strong that we’ve decided to host our inaugural Out of Home Care Information Session in town.

“Foster carers support children and young people, helping them to meet their full potential by providing them with stability, support and nurturing.

“There is an urgent need for immediate, respite, restoration and permanent foster carers for children and siblings of all ages.

“Being a foster carer is both challenging and rewarding, but our carers don’t do it alone; our team of experienced and committed employees is always there to guide and assist,” Gary said.

The Information Session will also be the first time CatholicCare has opened its doors to the public at its Singleton office, with an official opening set down for a few months’ time.

“We’ve recorded strong interest from the Upper Hunter community in our social services, particularly from those interested in becoming foster carers,” Gary said.

“By opening our doors and hosting an Information Session in Singleton, we’re not simply launching another new office – we’re formally extending our services to the Upper Hunter community and we’re increasing the number of people whom we can support.

“Through our Out of Home Care programs, disability services and counselling we can truly connect within and throughout the community with those who need it most. From active listening when things aren’t feeling all that great, through to providing a supportive and safe place for children, young people and those living with a  disability to engage, we are committed to being part of the solution and empowering people to reach their full potential.

“We are excited to be a new member of the local Singleton and wider Upper Hunter community,” Gary said.
