The event was organised by Five Star Family Day, Taree and more than 15 local pre-schools, child care centres, family support services and playgroups participated. All children were given a canvas to create an art work. Media included painting, craft materials, pencil drawings, glitter, oil pastels and charcoal. Brighter Futures case managers enjoyed the process with the children and carers, allowing the children to be creative and take pride in their art work, whilst encouraging the parents and carers to support, and delight in, their child’s drawings. The canvases were purchased at $5 each by Brighter Futures CatholicCare and all proceeds went to Children’s Week celebrations in the local area. The event was opened at Manning Regional Gallery on 19 October and runs until 30 October and over 100 parents and children attended the event. The children were very proud to witness their paintings on display! The event allowed families to bond, children to experience being creative and Brighter Futures case managers to step outside their sometimes heart-heavy roles. The day also successfully promoted unity and collaboration within the child care sector and services that support families in the local area.
