LITURGY MATTERS: 'Composing for a Church at Prayer'

One of the premiere ways in which many people experience full, conscious, and active participation in the liturgy is through the music they sing, play, and hear during worship. On 19 July 2021 the Australian Catholic University will host Fr J. Michael Joncas live from the USA for an online public lecture delivered via Zoom.

Fr J. Michael Joncas is a liturgical author and composer of over 300 pieces of liturgical music. While particularly relevant to all those who compose, perform or participate in liturgical music, this lecture will be of great interest to anyone involved in liturgical ministry. The presentation will explore the theory and practice of creating liturgical music, with Fr Joncas referencing his own compositions to illustrate the factors involved.

This online public lecture is from 10 am to 11.30 am (AEST) Monday 19 July 2021 via Zoom. Registration and flyer are available via the ACU news site.
