The open day provided families and the greater community with the opportunity to visit the newest and largest St Nicholas Early Education centre, St Nick's at Lochinvar.
The wonderful staff at the Lochinvar early education centre were readily available to answer any questions from parents - many of whom enrolled their child - a great result for the centre and the staff.
The stimulating outdoor area has been designed to create challenging and diverse play opportunities for all ages. In building this new early education centre, St Nick’s has respected the rural surrounds of the Lochinvar area in the planning and also worked to promote natural play spaces for young explorers.
The open day had something for everyone with a wide variety of fun entertainment and activities including: a petting zoo, a photo booth, a sausage sizzle and face painting.
The petting zoo was the main attraction with everyone being given the opportunity to play with an array of animals including: an alpaca, a calf, a piglet, bunnies, ducks and a goat. For children who were feeling adventurous, there were also two miniature ponies available for rides.
Face painting was a popular choice for the older children. Face painting is a wonderful activity that encourages imagination, while also providing a sensory experience.
In addition to face painting, there was a room dedicated to sensory play, allowing children to explore through sight, sound, touch and smell. On offer was playdough, slime, feathers and a water ball pit.
For the children (and parents) that like to be in front of the camera, St Nicks had a fun photo booth station. This gave those involved an opportunity to express their creative side as well as to take home a memento of their time at the open day.
Operating from 6.30am to 6.00pm St Nick’s at Lochinvar provides:
- two nursery programs designed for 12 children under 24 months of age
- two toddler programmes for 15 children each
- two dedicated three-year-old programs for 20 children each
- a dedicated pre-school wing which will provide two learning areas for children four to five years of age – which is located close by to St Patrick’s Primary School and which offers an invaluable school transition program for families.
