Hunter Homeless Connect is an annual event that links people experiencing homelessness or at risk of experiencing homelessness with accommodation services, mental health services, financial and legal assistance, education, employment and support services. Government and non-Government service providers join volunteers with in-kind financial support to provide a safe environment for locals needing support.
The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle organises hygiene packs to be distributed at the event and is calling for donations of toiletries and hygiene items. Smaller-sized portions of shampoo and conditioner are preferred and will be divided into packs by diocesan staff for those in need.
Items can be dropped into the collection box at the Catholic Schools Office reception, 841 Hunter Street, Newcastle West, by Friday 29 July 2016.
