Torrie Lewis fastest female in Australian history

Congratulations to Torrie Lewis a past student of St Paul’s, Gateshead and St Mary’s Catholic College, Gateshead on becoming the fastest Australian woman in history. Torrie recently clocked 11.10 seconds in the 100m sprint surpassing Melissa Breen and Raelene Boyle's records.

In primary school, Torrie was always a standout in athletics making our Diocesan and Polding athletics team from 2013 to 2016 and breaking a record in the long jump as an 11-year-old. Torrie continued her success in secondary schools again representing the Diocese and NSWCCC from 2017 to 2019. She broke the NSWCCC record in the 100m & 200m in 2018 as a 13-year-old and these records stand. In 2019 she broke the 200m record. At our Diocesan level, Torrie holds the records in the 12, 13 & 14 yrs 100m and the 12 yrs & 14yrs records in the 200m.
