A special commendation to the students who took out spots in the 'All-Rounder' and merit lists. Read their stories below.
Congratulations Cian O’Hagan – All Rounder!
A special congratulations to St Mary's Catholic College student, Cian O’Hagan, who was placed on the 2022 'All-Rounder' Achievers Merit List, achieving Band 6 results in all six courses of study and attaining an ATAR of 99.65, making him the top achiever in the Diocese.
Cian was also placed sixth in the state for Visual Arts, making the Top Achievers Merit List for 2022.
Congratulations Clare Maroney – All Rounder!
All Saints College student, Clare Maroney, said that her and her mum shed ‘happy tears’ when she received her HSC results earlier today.
Clare received a Band 6 in all her HSC subjects which included Physics, Chemistry, Extension Math's 1 and 2, Advanced English, Studies of Religion and Visual Arts, which earned her a spot on NESA’s 'All-Rounder' list.
Her high achievements in these subjects also secured Clare an ATAR of 99.25, which she said feels “pretty amazing.”
Clare now has her sights set on studying a Bachelor of Science in Sydney.
Congratulations Ellen Hughes – All Rounder!
St Francis Xavier’s College Captain, Ellen Hughes, said she is thrilled to be included on NESA’s ‘All Rounder’ Merit List, after achieving a Band 6 in all her chosen HSC subjects. Ellen’s great subject results also secured her with an ATAR of 98.65, which she hopes will assist her application to study a Bachelor of Veterinary Science next year.
“I was definitely very nervous leading up to the release of the HSC results, but when I received them this morning I was very excited!” Ellen said. “It’s a big relief to see all my hard work has paid off.”
The bright student added that she is very grateful for the support she received from her family and staff at St Francis, which she said helped her to achieve such great results. “My result is an achievement of our combined efforts. I always felt there was a lot of support from my teachers; they always made time to help me with anything I needed.”
Congratulations Joseph Nolan – Top Achiever!
Despite Construction being one of Joseph’s favourite HSC subjects, he said he was ‘very surprised’ to learn that he was ranked in the Top 10 for his achievements in the course!
Joseph completed his HSC at St Francis Xavier’s College in Hamilton, and said he hopes to study surveying at the University of Newcastle next year.
“I went really well in all my subjects and couldn’t be happier with my ATAR, which was 97.”
Congratulations Casey O’Bryan – Top Achiever!
Casey said she was shocked to learn that she placed 5th in the state for her results in the HSC subject, Construction.
“It’s very surreal” said Casey, who completed her studies at St Francis Xavier’s College in Hamilton.
Casey has already received an early offer to study at Charles Sturt University in Port Macquarie next year but hopes she may also receive an offer the University of Newcastle.
Congratulations Alexandra Holliday – All Rounder!
Congratulations to St Paul’s Catholic College student, Alexandra Holliday, who has been announced by NESA as an 'All-Rounder' on the HSC Merit list, after achieving a Band 6 across all subjects.
Alexandra was surrounded by her family when she received her HSC results, and opened them with the hope of seeing an ATAR of at least 94.3. So, when she saw had secured an ATAR of 97.9 she said she was ‘over the moon.’
Alex has described that her nerves are still a little on edge, while she awaits news that is expected next week, informing her as to whether she has secured a spot to study a Bachelor of Medical Science from next year. Alex has much to celebrate, having recently received the Ma and Morley Scholarship from the University of Newcastle.
Congratulations Bradley Post – Top Achiever!
Bradley Post said he was beaming with excitement when he opened his HSC results this morning.
Brad, who placed 3rd in the state for Electrotechnology, scored an ATAR of 93.3- well beyond his goal of 80- but says that even though he exceeded well beyond his expectations, he has no intention of changing his plans for next year.
“I have been offered a job with AmpControl where I will be doing an electrical apprenticeship and following that I will undertake an Electrical Engineering degree through the company. I am excited to start working with them in January,” he said.
Congratulations Eloise Estrada and Ben Barby – Top Achievers!
St Joseph’s High School Aberdeen students, Eloise Estrada and Ben Barby have both been announced on NESA’s HSC Top Achievers List.
Ben placed 5th in the state for Mathematics Standard 2, while Eloise placed second in the state for Filipino Continuers.
St Clare’s High School, Taree
The 2022 HSC Examination results have, again, been very rewarding for St Clare’s High School students. The cohort of 67 students were rewarded with outstanding grades across a range of subjects.
A special congratulations to our 2022 Dux, Taj Simpson with an ATAR of 96.90.
