This year there were some outstanding performances from the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese.
In the secondary division, Samuel Taylor from St Francis Xavier’s College, Hamilton flew home to take out first place.
Abrahm Russell from St Joseph’s College, Lochinvar followed suit in the youngest secondary age group, coming first in the 12 years, as did Darcy Taaffe from St Joseph’s High School, Aberdeen in the 12 years girls division.
Others who placed in the Top 10 and qualified for NSW All Schools included:
- Baley Woolf – St Mary’s Catholic College, Gateshead (5th place in 12 years)
- Coen Morgan – St Bede’s Catholic College, Chisholm (7th place in 12 years)
- Molly Salvador – St Paul’s Catholic College, Booragul (7th place in 13 years)
- Demetrius Rohr – St Joseph’s College, Lochinvar (5th place in 13 years)
- Charlie Daniels – St Pius X High School, Adamstown (9th place in 13 years)
- Liam Dixon – All Saints’ College, Maitland (3rd place in 16 years)
- Monty Dixon – All Saints’ College, Maitland (4th place in 16 years)
- Ebony Banks – All Saints’ College, Maitland (6th place in 16 years)
- Benjamin Doran – St Pius X High School, Adamstown (9th place in 16 years)
- Katrina Kladis – St Clare’s High School, Taree (4th place in 17 years)
- Harrison Doley – All Saints’ College, Maitland (4th place in 17 years)
- Zahara Patterson – St Francis Xavier’s College, Hamilton (5th in 18 years)
In the primary division, Caoimhe Bray from St Joseph’s Primary School, Denman was the Diocese’s strongest runner, winning the 10 years division.
Other great runs which resulted in a spot for NSW Primary School Sports Association (NSWPSSA) selection were:
- Noah McBride – St James’ Primary School, Kotara South (2nd place in 8/9 years)
- Alannah Dimmock – Holy Family Primary School, Merewether Beach (3rd place in 8/9years)
- Oliverr Gorton – St Aloysius Catholic Primary School, Chisholm (5th place in 8/9 years)
- Riley Michael Barnes – St Joseph’s Primary School, East Maitland (2nd place in 10 years)
- Samuel Van der Weyde – St Joseph’s Primary School, Charlestown (4th place in 10 years)
- Zach Thomson – St Aloysius Catholic Primary School, Chisholm (5th place in 10 years)
- Aurelia Russell – St Patrick’s Primary School, Lochinvar (2nd placec in 11 years)
- Ashlyn Wall – Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School, Tarro (3rd place in 11 years)
- Phobe Doran – St Joseph’s Primary School, Charlestown (2nd place in 12/13 years)
- Angus Anson Smith – St James’ Primary School, Kotara South (5th place in 12/13 years)
All of these students will represent the Diocese, Polding and NSW All Schools early next term.
