All students put in a 100 per cent effort and should be very proud of themselves. The many placings in the junior paraders’ competition included first place for Scarlet Hagan and Landon Meyer, second place for William Henley, Callie Hagan, and third place for Sophie Paull, Marshall Hinze and Diesel Hagan.

The biggest thrill to come out of the day for St Joseph’s students was their superstar steer “Hurricane” who brought in a placing for everyone who led him. The school extends a special thanks to Chris Hinze and the crew at Colinta for donating him and to all the sponsors who made participation in the show possible.

“Cindy” the black heifer, a winner from earlier in the year, continued her strong showing and again performed well. Generously donated by St Joseph's College, Hunters Hill, the school won with this heifer at the Singleton Beef Education Day held in May.

St Joseph’s Denman also acknowledges the efforts of volunteers Abby-Lee Meyer and Roxley Duggan for transporting the cattle and for helping the students prepare them for the show.

Agriculture is a curriculum area recognised as a strength at St Joseph’s. All students are encouraged to extend their knowledge through participation in Singleton Beef and Land Management days, Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza and the Upper Hunter Show. The school’s cattle show team provides students with the opportunity to prepare steers and heifers for competitions throughout the year.
