Each year, 16 community organisations are invited to decorate a tree for the carnival and raise money for their nominated charity. The community is then invited to come and vote for their favourite tree and make a donation. This year St Joseph’s raised money for St Vincent De Paul.
A number of Mini Vinnies students spent their lunchtimes making a variety of lovely silver and blue decorations for their tree. A group of students then attended Hamilton Uniting Church for a fun afternoon of decorating and celebrating with all the other wonderful organisations.
A special thanks to these students and their parents who supported their attendance at this after-school event. We were very proud of their enthusiasm and faith in action.
During December Mini Vinnies also organised a Christmas mufti fun day, and together with the money raised from those voting and a contribution from the Hamilton Uniting Church’s Bill’s Place, a cheque for $1125 was presented to St Vincent De Paul from St Joseph’s.
St Joseph’s enjoyed the opportunity to be a part of an event that really embraces the spirit of giving and service to others and helps our community put our faith into action for those supported by St Vincent De Paul.
