St Joseph’s Primary School, Dungog

Despite the heavy rainfall and the resulting cancellation of the annual street march down Dungog’s main street, this didn’t stop the Dungog community from taking a moment to pay their respects.

A large number of the members of St Joseph’s Dungog school community attended the commemoration ceremonies held inside the Dungog RSL Auditorium,

The school’s Year Six leaders to took part in the official ceremonies with school captains, Kaylee Quinn and Wallace MacKay, leading part of the official readings.  Two of the Year Six leaders, Archer Hopwood and Darcy Hill, also laid a wreath during the ceremony on behalf of the St Joseph's School Community.

“We were very proud of the students of St Joseph's for their participation on this solemn day of remembrance and of hope for a more peaceful world for us all,” said Principal of St Joseph’s, Michael Maloney.

“Several of the students proudly wore the medals their forebears had received in recognition of their service to their country.”

St Joseph’s Primary School, Merriwa

The weather was kinder to the community of Merriwa who came together to pay their respects to those who so valiantly and selflessly served our country.

During the service, wreaths were laid by students on behalf of St Joseph’s Merriwa, St Joseph’s Parents & Friends Association and St Joseph’s High School, Aberdeen.

Students and staff of St Joseph’s Merriwa, along with students from St Joseph’s Aberdeen, later joined with the Merriwa community in the ANZAC Day March and Remembrance Service.

“The students were very attentive throughout the service and proudly joined in with wonderful singing of the Australian and New Zealand national anthems,” said Principal of St Joseph’s, Helen Whale.
