After eight weeks of rehearsals, the students’ group performances and monologues were outstanding.
Not only did students perform, but additionally had to adopt a production role throughout the process. Students had to research each role and then constantly collaborate, holding weekly production meetings to ensure each role was being fulfilled.
Students organised ticket sales, costume and sound design, formulating a back stage crew and myriad other aspects that were considered when creating theatre.
Stage Manager, Finn Fagerstrom, said, “Having to work as a group and constantly communicate about budget and directorial decisions really brought us closer as a class. I thoroughly enjoyed performing for such a large audience, their reaction to some of the comedy scenes was amazing.”
All students excelled in their roles and approached the production with great enthusiasm and professionalism. This was evident through the sheer amount of support for the night, as a second show was organised after the first sold out.
The second event sold out as well with parents, friends and teachers commenting on how professional and humorous the show was.
The students made over $1,300 in ticket and food sales due to their diligent organisation. They also conducted a full costume photoshoot prior to the event and sold photos, programs and posters on the night. The class’ Lobster Mascot also made an appearance on the night.
Costume Designer, Matilda Jones said, “There is no better way to learn about the collaborative nature of theatre than being part of it.”
