Snags R Us is a group of past fathers, grandfathers and parishioners who have generously donated their time in a cheery manner to deliver cooked snags to the community.
On Saturday 22 July, Bishop Bill made a special visit to the St Joseph’s Toronto Parish to spend time with parishioners, learn of recent happenings in the community and celebrate Mass with students from St Joseph’s Primary School, Kilaben Bay.
As lifetime members, Snags R Us wore their aprons to cook up a storm for the event, where many students, parish members and Bishop Bill enjoyed a delicious sausage sizzle together.
Snags R Us member, David Fleury, said, “Twelve years ago, four of us volunteered to put our hands up to help at community and school events and have continued doing so without any children at the school for the past 5 years.
“As a team, we enjoy the satisfaction of seeing the smiles on the children’s faces and the magic that a sausage on a piece of bread can bring to the community.”
Snags R Us’ dedication and time to these events assists to raise funds for a variety of causes. Feast days, school celebrations, the KidsMatter launch and most recently, raising $450 for a school family in need shows the enthusiasm and commitment of a group of men supporting the community.
“The St Joseph’s community prides itself on the strong connection between school and community.
“Having the assistance of groups such as the Snags R Us team makes special occasions so much more enjoyable for all. We value the contribution this team has made over the years and we look forward to many more snags in the future,” said Principal, Leigh Peacock.
