Holy Spirit Infants School, Abermain, celebrated National Science Week on Friday, 19 August, with drones, droids and robots.

Students turned into junior scientists with a Science Fun Day that incorporated a variety of fun activities to promote a love of science, creativity inquiry, problem solving and 21st century learning.

With the support of a National Science Week grant awarded to the school, students explored science with four hands-on activities, creating a table top hover craft, a loop plane, fizz inflators, and slime and robots, with the day ending with the flying of a drone.

“In an infants’ school, children are full of curiosity and science is a wonderful way to engage their sense of wonder and possibility,” said Principal Marie Butel-Simoes.

Students also participated in a number of competitions including Lego robots, paper plane flying and a remote control car obstacle course race.
