With Australia currently experiencing one of the driest winters on record, our farmers are certainly doing it tough.

Due to the lack of water, livestock are being lost and this greatly affects the financial, social and emotional wellbeing of our farming community.

As a school, St Therese’s wanted to raise awareness about our farmers’ current plight with their students, while also reaching out and showing their support.

Staff and students spent the day out of uniform dressed as farmers and each brought along a $2 donation.

Throughout the day the students watched newsfeeds about the drought and also read stories about life on the farm.

In total, the school community of St Therese’s raised $1715.55 which will be directly donated to the Buy a Bale campaign which helps farmers affected by drought feed their livestock in times of need.

The day was a great success and we hope this provides some relief for the farmers.
