At St John Vianney Primary School, Morisset, the school’s Mini Vinnies Team used the celebration as an opportunity to do some fundraising for World Youth Day 2016. For a gold coin donation, students were invited to come dressed in their best green attire, which many embraced with gusto, along with the day's colouring competitions and cake stall.
Across the lake at St Patrick's Primary School, Swansea, there was more green fun to be had with a photo booth, concert, sweets stall and a range of games and activities.
In Newcastle at another St Patrick's Primary School, Wallsend, students and teachers celebrated with a Mass and raised over $1500 for the missions. Principal Grant Diggins didn't disappoint with a bright green wig and other green accessories.
St James' Primary School, Muswellbrook, spent the morning celebrating with a live broadcast from Power FM 98.1, which included a dance competition, games and one of the radio hosts dressing up as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Students were also given the opportunity to sit in the drivers seat of a fire truck, a highlight of the morning.
