Spanning across the six weeks of Lent each year, Project Compassion brings thousands of Australian schools, parishes and supporters together to raise funds for people living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world.
This year’s theme is ‘For All Future Generations’ and reminds us that the good that we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come. It invites us to make the world a better place by working together now and finding long‑term solutions to global issues. We encourage you to put your compassion into action this Lent through your prayer, fasting and almsgiving by supporting Project Compassion.
In conversation with your community and loved ones, we invite you to discuss the following questions:
You can get involved by watching the stories of Project Compassion, hosting a fundraiser, joining a Caritas Conversation, or downloading resources.

Your generous support can help change lives today - and For All Future Generations.
In the video below, we caught up with three generations of the Walsh family, who share their memories of Project Compassion. Brendan and Alex Walsh are lifelong members of our Diocese, and currently members of the Mackillop parish. Alex is also a Kindergarten teach at St Paul’s Primary School, Gateshead.
We have also prepared a printable resource for families, schools and parishes. Within this resource are conversation starters to help you learn more about the spirit of Project Compassion. You can access it here.
