NAIDOC Week is being celebrated 3-10 July. Originally, ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’, NAIDOC has evolved into an annual, week-long celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
CatholicCare recognises the importance of this week, and our involvement in NAIDOC events this year has included:
Cessnock Regional Art Gallery Exhibition, which featured work from our Early Intervention Art Course and focused on newfound knowledge of Indigenous art techniques. View a gallery below.
Gloucester NAIDOC Day celebrations, which included a smoking ceremony, didgeridoo performance and the unveiling of the Jack Cook Memorial Plaque.
‘Barra Murruk’ Family Day Out at Taree, which included a free barbecue lunch and face painting.
