Book Week Celebrations across our Schools

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Dr. Seuss

Book Week is a tradition that dates back to 1945 and is one of Australia’s longest running literary events. Check out how some of our Schools are celebrating this years theme ‘Reading is Magic’.

All Saints' College, Maitland

All Saints' College's annual Book Week celebration has become a cherished tradition for both staff and students. This year, the school embraced the enchanting theme, "Reading is Magic," with a costume day for staff and senior students. Inspired by the magical world of Harry Potter, All Saints' staff enthusiastically transformed into beloved characters from the series.

With the school bells replaced with Hedwig's Theme and an 8:45 a.m. flash mob performance of "YMCA" in the main yard, featuring Professor Snape, Professor Lockhart, and even Dumbledore himself, the excitement was palpable.

On the senior campus, students participated in a thrilling "Horcrux Scavenger Hunt," with a coveted golden snitch prize awaiting the victorious team. The day culminated in an epic showdown between Harry and Voldemort—this time, wands were swapped for dodgeballs in a high-energy battle on the basketball court. With everyone in costume, the event was a resounding success, filled with cheers and laughter.

San Clemente High School, Mayfield

This year San Clemente librarian Ms Huber has made it her mission to keep reading at the forefront of student's minds.

In the week leading up to Book Week, Kristy has been a pirate, a magician, a farmer and even the Japanese comic character, Totoro.
