More than 800 students from across the country were nominated to take part in the 10-day residential program, but only 380 were selected including St Clare’s Patrick Guthridge, WenYuan Lim Schneider and Nathan Smith. As part of the selection process students have to undertake four assessments.
The NYSF program is designed to provide students in their HSC year with a broad understanding of the diverse study and career options available in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and to encourage continued studies in these fields.
Rotary Australia is the founding partner of NYSF and local Rotary districts across the country are charged with nominating students for the program.
Taree Rotary Club Youth Services Director, Dr Colin Rose, said that the Rotary Club was very proud and excited to have three students from St Clare’s advancing to the National Youth Science Forum from our area.
St Clare’s Principal, Mr Peter Nicholls said that he was absolutely delighted for the students.
“Patrick, Wen and Nathan are all self-motivated, committed learners and fine young people.”
“Their selection is a reflection of their academic achievement, as well as their application to study.
“Our staff are deeply committed to helping students to achieve their goals and to ‘get them where they want to go to in life,’ so they’re equally as excited as the students with this outcome.
The students’ selection in the program continues the school’s exceptional reputation in the community for empowering young learners to achieve high academic results.
