Members of the school band wowed the audience with a selection of songs, including Feel it Still, Star Wars Theme and some Christmas carols.
For many members this was their first end-of-year concert, but it definitely won’t be their last.
“I really like the sound of the music that we play like Star Wars and Feel it Still,” said Year 3 student Finn Jamieson. “I first wanted the trombone, but it was a bit big for a Year 3, so I picked clarinet instead. I might try signing up in Year 5 for the trombone.”
For the Year 6 band members, many are excited about continuing their musical experiences when they commence at St Pius X High School, Adamstown next year, however they won’t forget their Friday sessions.
“I’m going to miss all the jokes and how fun it is and all the lessons,” said Year 6 student Sian Probert. Caitlin Russell said she will miss the atmosphere and the people she enjoys being around.
The band is taught once a week by Teena Wallace and Bryne Callaway from Alan Ward Music.
Throughout the year, the students participate in small group lessons, along with whole-band practices, learning a variety of songs and performance skills along the way.
