Mini Vinnies fete raises Christmas appeal and mission money
In the lead up to the end of school term, the school community of St Francis Xavier’s Primary School, Belmont have been busy with celebrations, fundraisers and Christmas appeals.
Last Tuesday, the community came together to celebrate the school’s patron saint, Saint Francis Xavier with a special Mass. This is always a fantastic celebration within the school calendar year and students continue to surprise the parishioners with their “angel-like” singing voices.
Students then completed classroom activities based on their patron saint. Year 4 imagined they were travelling with Saint Francis Xavier through Asia and had to think about what they would take with them in their suitcases, fleeing home, not knowing when they would return home, if ever.
On Thursday, theSFXschool community came together to raise much-needed money for Catholic Mission and the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. A school fete was held where amazing stalls and activities took place.
From delicious cakes and used toys, to lucky dips, a coin toss and sponge throwing at teachers, the day was filled with giant smiles and never-ending laughter.
As a teacher, there is something truly special about seeing the students having fun with staff as the school year winds down.
We raised more than $850 for these much-needed charities, a great achievement for a small school.
TheSFXschool community comes together extremely well when there are people in need, and all students, teachers and parents should be extremely proud of their efforts.
