Smashed is a global theatre-in-education program that aims to break the culture of underage drinking and reduce alcohol-related harm amongst young people around the world.
Since launching in the United Kingdom in 2004, the program has been delivered in over 12 countries and to over 500,000 students worldwide.
With a live performance by professional actors followed by an interactive workshop, students are given the opportunity to explore and understand the dangers and consequences of underage drinking and binge drinking. The program also equips them with the facts, skills and confidence to make better choices and develop a responsible attitude towards alcohol.
The performance tells the story of three young people and how underage drinking has affected each of their lives. The workshop then delves further into understanding the factors that influenced the character’s decisions during the performance.
“St Paul's students have gained a large amount of practical knowledge to help them to make wise decisions about alcohol,” said Elisa Milajew, Year 9 Student Coordinator at St Paul’s.
“This interactive and energetic workshop provides positive role modelling and meaningful messages to impressionable teenagers.”
