Lucy and Thomas’ mum, Jodie gave examples of how excited her children are to be starting school this week, “They have a chart with the number of sleeps to go - Lucy has been ‘doing homework’ and copying out alphabet letters, while Thomas has been talking about school non-stop”.

This year, Holy Spirit will also be welcoming a new Principal, Mrs Charlene Reid, and some great new facilities. As Principal, Charlene is most looking forward to supporting and measuring the growth in the children’s learning and supporting the teachers and staff at the school. She is also looking forward to the launch of the Diocesan Learning Framework in 2017 and how the school can tap into the findings of the Early Learning Working Party.

“Holy Spirit Abermain is a growing school with many unique qualities. I look forward to sharing my own personal skills and previous experiences with the staff at Abermain and build upon the many projects already happening including a new Year 2 classroom, the use of technology, an area for an Outdoor Early Learning area and a newly constructed fairy garden,” said Charlene.

The amazingly picturesque fairy garden was built by former parent and grandparent of Holy Spirit Abermain and Kurri Kurri (Abermain’s feeder primary school), Pat Sharkey, who to this day still devotes his time and energy to build playing areas for the children.

“Pat built our fairy garden, the gorgeous bridge with the stepping stones and is always coming up with other features to enhance the children’s experiences,” said Charlene.

The six new Holy Spirit twins were right at home in the new fairy garden during their photoshoot and can look forward to many more years of enjoyment ahead.
