All students were invited to join the competition by designing a flag to be flown from the cranes during the redevelopment of the shopping centre at East Maitland.

The teacher's then chose one design to represent the school and recreated the image on a large canvas, with the word ‘CraneOsaurus’ created using fingerprints of all the students. The canvas was displayed at Stockland Green Hill’s during July and the public voted for the best entrants.

St Joseph’s submission came a very close second and was awarded $1500s in vouchers to be used at Big W.

“This has been a great exercise for all our students,” said Year 3-4 teacher, Tania Kranias.

“We plan to use the winnings on two new iPads for our classrooms.”
