Of the eight finals held, four diocesan schools competed in six finals and were successful in all.

St Mary’s Primary School, Scone, triumphed over Aberdeen Public School in the Open B division, 22-10, while St Joseph’s High School, Aberdeen, proved too strong for All Saints College, St Peter’s Campus, Maitland, in the under-14s, winning 24-14.

St Joseph’s also came away with the under-16s crown, comfortably beating St Mary’s High School, Gateshead, 32-4.

Continuing their strong recent success in the annual competition were All Saints College, St Joseph’s Campus, Lochinvar, with twin triumphs (under 13s, under 15s).

And it seems like it was all in the name with St Joseph’s Primary School, Taree, also getting (open B) across the line and rounding out the champions for 2016. 

The annual competition saw hundreds of local school children take to the field to have the ultimate Knights experience.

Throughout grand final day, a number of Newcastle Knights, including Aku Uate and Danny Levi, were on hand to meet the young players at presentations after each match. 

Winning sides from the Knights Knockout now progress to the State Knockout, which will be played in the Penrith district across various locations early next month.
