For me it lacked the liturgical busyness of previous Easters, with choir preparations, turning up early to practice with the choir before each of the ceremonies, the foot washing, the solemnity of the end of Holy Thursday as we place Jesus in the garden of repose, then moving into Good Friday, the adoration of the Cross, the preparation of the Cathedral space for each of the ceremonies, particularly on Holy Saturday and then the joy of the Easter Vigil, gathering outside in the dark by the fire, processing into the darkened space and welcoming in the ‘light of Christ’, before proclaiming Alleluia, Jesus is risen.

This message is being written from the Gold Coast, as we spent the weekend visiting our children and grandchildren, where the key topic of conversation was around COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and the impact that it is having on our global and local settings and what might eventuate over the coming weeks and possibly months.
