The diocese’s inaugural Corporate Golf Day attracted teams from Newcastle and Sydney to the wonderful facilities at Newcastle Golf Club. The players braved the challenging conditions but still managed to complete their rounds, enjoying the benefits of the refreshment cart and the expertise of Jason Laws and his on-site golf academy which offered analysis of technique and advice for improvement.
The generosity of our sponsors, Makinson & d'Apice, David Lloyd Funerals, Jones Homes and Maitland Mutual, along with the goodwill of our corporate teams, ensured a successful day was enjoyed by all, raising $11,000 for CatholicCare.
Director of CatholicCare, Helga Smit, addressed the gathering, sharing an overview of the organisation’s work and explaining how the funds raised would benefit people we support.
“Although the weather was miserable, it certainly didn’t dampen the player’s spirits. I am delighted to thank all participants personally for their contribution, which will advance our capacity to support people in need.”
The successful team, Colliers International, was the inaugural winner of the Catholic Diocese Corporate Golf Day trophy, a title they will no doubt wish to defend.
We look forward to another great day next year, in finer weather!
